Default base 97 lude manual trans problem

Whats up. I removed my tranny to change the 5th gear sleeve set this weekend. Everthing went good but whenI installed the tranny back into the car there was no pressure on the release (throw out) bearig and release fork. when I installed the slave cylinder the piston was pushed all the way out. Shouldnt there be pressure on the bearing from the pressure plate to push the piston back in to the slave? When I removed the slave cylinder I could move the release fork back and forth with my hand easily. Has anybody seen this problem before. I did not remove the pressure plate or clutch at all and the splines on the tranny lined up fine when I installed it. I also installed the fork and bearing correctly according to the helms manual. I am stuck now and everybody I have asked said they never heard of this before either. I looked at the fork to see If it was bent but it looked ok. anything else you can reccommend trying or looking at? I need to get this done it's really pissing me off. thanks for your help

I did not touch the pressure plate so that shouldn't be a problem. I bought a new slave but that is not the problem because there is no back pressure on the fork to push the slave in anyways.

Have you checked your master cyclinder? Have you bleed the system as well? Is there any fluid around your clutch pedel?

the hydraulic line is not the problem because the slave cylinder piston is pushed all the way out and there is no pressure on the fork to return the piston back in.

your pressure plate, how old is it?

how old is the throwout bearing?

is it worn out?

the clutch was working fine before I removed the tranny. I just ordered a stage 2 clutch / pressure plate/ new bearing and 12lb flywheel so hopefully this fixes it if not then I'll be back if anyone else has some input on this problem it might still be helpfull

Push the slave cylinder piston back in and pump the pedal a few times until you get pressure back. I accidently pushed on the pedal while I had my tranny out and I just had to do those steps and I am happily driving the car again
