Is it possible to cut the valve cover (to adjust cam gears) a certain way so that you can cover (bolt back on) the "hole" afterwards? I just hate the idea of leaving a space there for debris to fly in and ruin your timing belt.
I have found bugs all over my engine bay...including a giant dragon fly by where the cruise control module would be.

you can cut just the end wall is and close to half of the plastic timing cover to expose the cam gears and drill several small holes along the edges of the valve cover and plastic cover. then get a metal screen to block the debris. use either plastic straps or metal rings to secure the metal screen
i think your best bet is to do what im doing and just buy a used valve cover and use that to adjust your gears and put back the non cut one. only way to be truly safe!!
it is a bitch to chng the T belt. i hate it!!!!!!!!

That's a good idea...but I wanna be able to check on the cam gear bolts as they might become lose after a while.
Yeah, changing the timing belt is a bitch with A/C!
