Is this normal?????
K, here's the quick and dirty...
When I come off the highway (usually doing 130-160...KM's...don't have a heart attack is the US) and I come to a stop at the top of the offramp, the car will idle up around 2500 for about 7 seconds and then drop down to 500-800 (normal) idle. Car has 16000K, no mods, has been in for the scheduled servicing. ??? Is this normal?? The car didn't do this when I first got it.
Also, has anyone ever had trouble with the guide tube for the oil dipstick? I pulled the stick the other day when filling up and the whole tube came out!!! Had a bitch of a time getting it back in!! Acura is getting me a new one (under warranty). Last thing is the wiring harness for the headlights. I put in some aftermarket Piaa bulbs and blew the wiring harness, Acura is saying that it will not be covered by the warranty since I used after market bulbs. Is this a frequent problem? Should I just save myself future headaches and get the HID conversion?
While I'm here I may as well hit the next topic...I followed the advice from many people on this post when I first got the car and drove it stock for 16000k to get used to it as is...now the spring is here and I think it's time to start playing a little, do I just do the usual i/h/e or is there something else out there that I should really sink my teeth into. (Budget ~ 4000 CDN)
Sorry guys, I know that was a long read, but any help would be appreciated.

My car used to and still does sometimes idle at 1100~1200, and I worrying about it until I figured out it does that when the fan kicks in. 2500, hmm, check your acelrator cable and make sure it does not get snagged, if I remember correctly they use braided wire, maybe one of the wires bay have broken and it could be getting hung on it when you let go the gas, anyways about the ligths, you should be able to find some plugs you can swith with at your local auto parts store, they must likely burned because of the high wattage of the bulbs you were running. In my 92 teg (R.I.P) I had the same problem, I decided to go to the dealer and buy the replacement but for safety reasons they will only sell the whole wire hardness $700 US. Went to a junk yard they wanted $500 US. So the answer you were looking for and had to read through the whole ramble for is you should just but the HID kit cause if you use the auto parts replacement it will void at least some of the warranty.
TADA!!
Sorry, I was bored.

i have the similar problem. it wasnt the cable for me but some times the idle air control gets oiled up. the pcv hose frome the valve cover to the air ram sometimes picks up too much oil vapors clogging the idle air control and sometimes causing some debris to kink near the throttle plate area.i would suggest cleaning the throttle plate area and check the idle control system.
Now when your talking about the elevated rpms after coming off the highway could be due to the alternator kicking on the fan to help reduce heat building up slowly at slower speeds or at stop. Also can be caused by having lights on or radio sys on or high power radio and speakers as well. But from what you described sounds like alternator kicking on and fan coming on to cool down the temps.
As for PIAA bulbs blowing the harness. Thats actually the first time I've heard of that. Where they the correct size for the sockets? I believe it's H-4 or 3 I can't remember this late at night right now. I have both Piaa super whites installed on both high and low beams and never had problem with them. Was it both sides or just one? Because too me it was either the bulb was the not the correct one of the car or they where not properly installed. I've heard of ill fittment on UKspec ITR and hitting large puddle got mosture in the head lamps and caused the bulbs and harness to blow out from the ill fitment and water contact. Also they normally use PIAA or Koita super white bulbs in European ITR's and normally installed by dealership under warranty so I'm not sure why would they blow the harnees unless it was not fitted correctly or the harness had defect in it to begin with.

If I drive my car hard (to pass someone on the highway) and then stick it in neutral, my ITR will idle at about 1500 rpms until I come to a complete stop. I believe this is normal as it seems to be computer controlled and I'm on my second ITR ECU (due to the first one malfunctioning and throwing codes, both of my ECU's did this).
Just my experience.
