How to check LMA's?
Any way to check if the LMA's are in good shape with out taking them out? Can I push on the top, and tell if good or bad by the rebound? I have checked valve clearences 4 times now, and yet the start up rattle is still present.
Any help is appreciated
Thanks

hey i have he same problem as you.. did you figure out what it is.. what part of the head is the lma.. got any pictures.. are they hard to change.. i have done the valve lash 4 to 5 times already and still make that annoying ticking noise
nope haven't gotten around to checking them. All I know is i got alittle more rattle than I should, and the valves were adjusted less than 4k ago. Still runs strong. When I get some time, I will go over every possibility.
If you figure it out, let me knwo.
thanks

when checking the LMA's the VTEC lifter should be lightly touching/resting on the base of the VTEC cam lobe. if there no touching the base of the cam then the LMA is collapsed or just worn out.
also when you press down on the VTEC lifter if the LMA sticks a little when you release it that is also a sign that the LMA is bad.
i just replaced all my LMA's. all 8 of them were bad. lots of ticking when cold and lots of annoying valve train noise when you rev the engine up. i did the honda prelude LMA swap and they work great for much less than half the cost of new B16/B18 LMA's.
