Default b20vtec ticking noise.

i had my b20 vtec motor for about 2 months now, and recently it has started to make a ticking noise at round 2k rpm and up. the noise stops if i let go of the gas, it sounds like its coming from the head. i check my valve clearnece and is all ok, not really sure what it could be, has anyone come accros it before?

I am not sure how pronouced the ticking noise is but i have seen valves that needed to be adjusted as bad as this situation. Check your valve lash as it is possible and an adjustment that many poeple overlook as a maintence.

i have already checked for valve clearnce, no problem there. the ticking noise can only be heard at around 2k rpm and up. and when i start the car it gets really loud untill it goes down to idle.

Could be valves or valve adjustments. But always be safe and check your oil.

welll yesterday morning the tinking got really loud and somthing broke while i was going up a hill, the motor died and at the same time by batery died *** well luck i was still rolling and maneged to start it. the knocking now seems to be coming from the block. i started pulling the oil pan off to check the rods and bearings, maybe i can just replace the bearings..... yup its a bearing

i measured it and turned out oval lol, but i sand it down a bit and managed to make it as round as i could till i get a new motor, and sanded down the connecting rod cap too because there was a little play between the bearing and the shaft. hopefully it will last for 2 or 3 months till i get my motor
