ok i have pretty much a fully built all motor ls/vtec except 1 problem... the Vtec doesnt work..

now im thinkin the block, which is a b18a1, doesnt have a knock sensor... which of course is critical and the thing that makes Vtec work ... that is my theory what do you guys think please pitch in with posts and let me know how to fix this...!

some1 also mentioned getting a new ecu that doesnt have to look for a knock sensor. Bad thing is it costs money.. which i dont have much of but ill do w/e it takes to get the Vtec workin Is this true? again pitch in with the thoughts thnx guys...

 

vtec will work without a knock sensor it will just through a code for it, do you have any other codes its throwing, and more info on setup like what ecu your running and what car.

 

im not quite sure what type of hondata it is.. its in a silver metal box but that dusnt mean anything. Also the motor is in a 93 civic hatch cx

Did you build the motor??? LOL.......... what oil pump did you use??... What ecu are you running.... WE need more details!!!!!

 

no, it doesn't have to do with the knock sensor. factory knock sensor is pretty much useless anyways. it's not very good at sensing knock, and in my experience, doesn't retard ignition by much or at all if it does manage to detect knocking.
