cutting bushings bad?

Default cutting bushings bad?

my suspension is koni yellows from an EK, my car is a EG hatch, and i have to cut the bushings on the rear LCA, inorder for the shocks to fit. my question is, is it dangerous or would it effect performance? thanks

It can be done, but I would rather "grinde" than "cut". The trick is gonna be to keep the bushing sleeve flat. Don't grind at an angle.

Why so many people get parts that arn't for their car, I'll never know...

A grinder, duh...

Remove the LCA, and grind on the ears of the bushing with a bench grinder. Make sure to mark the metal, so you know when to stop removing material (to much is bad). Also, make sure that you remove equal amounts of material from both sides of the bushing. All the cars wheight rests on that bushing, so it must be focused in the center...

^^^^ and watch the temp of the bushing. rubber bushings do not like a lot of heat. (for obvious reasons)

sounds like a bod idea to me right off the get go...but grinding it would be your best bet. hell, why not paint it as well? lol!

It is totaly doable (people seem to do it all the time on H-T), but I wouldn't risk it. Just sell your rear shocks & buy new ones for your model...
