Default Trans Whining

Driving to pick up my GF from work yesterday I notice a noise ..... like a waa waa waa waa when accel or decel ....

I pull over and get to an exxon and thought is may be the trans .... I took the fill bolt out and added fluid .... it took about 1.5 qts

Now the problem is ..... there is a light whining in 4th and 5th under deceleration but none in the other gears .....

any ideas ? I am just super worried that something will happen to my car and leave me and or me and my pregnant gf on the side of the road

thanks everyone

It might be one of the bearings in there, dif. bearing or mainshaft bearing, or TOB.
Mine was doing a supercharger noise like a **** and bam!! LSD shifted and broke the final gear

you ran a tranny damn near out of oil, now wonder why it is whining????

Need to learn to upkeep your car (AMY MODEL) before you learn to be a "tuner".........

I would replace your clutch and such before you worry about getting a new trans. Take one step at a time, now you know to check your trans fluid every now and then. Just becuase it does not come with a warning light does not mean you don't have to get off your butt and check it yourself every now and then.

my **** whines too. only it just started hapening and only happens in first gear or second during down shifts. then when i pull it out of gear and start over it doesn't happen any more.

and to the last guy... if you take things one at a time... just imagine how much down time and many times he'd have to take his transmission off or apart.

Are you kidding? At most a day of 2 of down time. You put the clutch and TOB on test it out if it whines then you know you need a new tranny. You drive it till you get a new tranny you replace the tranny in what another day? Max 2 days of down time vs. possibly wasting money on a newer d-series tranny? Maybe you have money to throw around like that but I know I would check stuff out before I bought something I might not need.

no im not kidding.

heres the route that i would have taken. replace the clutch because he already needs it... then open up the tranny and inpect all internals then replace the misc seals. because they don't run that much either. its just a safety precaution. just like when you do a timing belt... some people change out the water pump as well because it saves one less trip. and some also replace the balance shaft seals, the cam seals etc etc.

get the job done right the first time rather than having to go and take it out over and over.

and i wasn't implying go out and buy another tranny... i was implying try taking another route.

if a customer brings in there car and says they have a brake problem and they can't brake. are you going to throw out that he needs to replace his brake pads? then that doesn't work. replace the master cylinder. that wont work. replace the slave cylinders on the drum's. etc etc.?
