greddy kit break-in period
im fully building a d16z6 block and head. o and this is on a ej1 and putting a greddy kit on it before i drop her into the car. couple ?'s first im using hondata to tune 440cc injectors the greddy turbo kit is internally wastegated. so i cant just take the spring out and not worry bout boost but the closest tuner is bout 3 and a half hours away from me how the hell am i suppose to romp on it when all i will have is a basemap...that to my knowledge isnt gonna hold boost??? im putting in 9:1 wiseco pistons with eagle rods. i heard the best way to break it in is WOT from a couple diff. sites but i cant do it if i have a basemap and cant take the spring out of the wastegate im in bit of a dilemma.
ok then that helps but wut does the greddy start makin boost at. plus u cant romp on it much if the car turbo makes boost at lets say 4000 rpms
from what i've seen there isn't a breakin on turbos.. it just needs to get full of oil. As per gettin to a tuner.. best way would probably get some way to tow it. Uhaul or what ever.
You just have to give it light throttle. If you punch it, it will start to make boost at about 2500 rpms or so. If you only give it 20% throttle it wont make boost. You will just need to drive like an old lady. Make sure you have a boost gauge hooked up so you can see where its at in vac.
Your best bet is to find a friend with a truck and rent a trailer. Tow that bitch there and no worries at all. Do it right and break it in on the dyno.

For one, you could take the wastegate actuator (plunger thing) off the wastegate arm and use a cable/etc to hold it open. It shouldn't start making any boost even to redline, otherwise you'd be dealing with major boost creep with it hooked up normally. Another option is to run the actuator tubing to your seat & pump it with a vacuum tester/brake bleeder tool. Third and worst option - put 1-2 washers between the turbo and the manifold to break it in. Major exhaust leak there = no spooling.
As for the cam, I can't say for sure if you want to break the cam in or seat the rings first. Breaking in a cam = running at 2k rpm for 20mins.

the wastegate on a greddy turbo is internal so to my knowledge you cant touch it....or maybe you can??? ill just break it in on the dyno
