Default Newbie here. few ?'s

Hey guys I just got a civc today, and im new to the Honda world. This is going to be a dumb question but how can i tell what model I have?? its a two door and the gauge cluster only has MPH in the middle then on the left the Eng temp and right is fuel. I open up the hood and it says its a 16 valve Honda. I'm used to driving my 90 Mustang so this is a whole new set up for me. thanks for all your help. P.s are there any free mods I could do to the engine and what do you think should be done first to the car to make it a lil quicker.

Welcome to honda-tech

to check the model it will say it on the back of the car. im guessing its something along the lines of a CX/VX/DX as none of them came with a tachometer stock (as far as i know)

if your looking for a tach any gauge cluster from a 92-95 civic will plug right in and work no problems.

again, welcome

Um, not sure if being in Canada makes a difference or not, but the DX here comes with a tach (for the EK anyways).

first off. what year? what body style?

second, to make it any sort of "quick" or "fast" you will need to convert to a 5 speed, which isnt hard. especially cause i assume your gonna do a motor swap anyways.

just spend a lot of time reading.

changing the header and cat back will maybe a little but dont expect much. But if you plan to stay with this motor and dont want to run FI, I/h/e could be a good place to start, Good luck, civics are fun cars to drive and mod. just remember to search before asking any question here since I bet almost every question has been answered atleat once here

For Hondas the VIN tells you everything you need to know about the car. Namely year, model, & trim level. The trick is in decoding it, which you can do at a few places online.
