Default civic turbo problems

me and my buddy just turboed his d16z6. if he puts the gas to the floor everything is fine till around 4-5000 rpms then it just stops and kinda acts like it is misfiring or somthing. boost gauge reads around 9psi, which we think is full boost(when he ordered the kit it didnt say what the wastegate dumped at) he has a missing link and i when we put it in it runs alot better than before it was installed but still not right. i think the computer is still detecting boost. anyone know what the problem could be?

Exactly. Like you said, it could also be the missing link, since the ECU sees boost it decides to enter limp mode and drop as much fuel as it can.

Your pushing 9 psi on no fuel managment. I'm taking bets now on how long the motor lasts, anyone down for this. I got like 20 bucks on a week tops.

your fuel injectors are maxed out. upgrade to 310's or 440's and for the sake of boost.. get a fmu and a afc controller atleast if you dont go with a uberdata or hondata

vtec, Timing advancing turned off? or vtec turned completely off.

Turbo= Retard timing.
Vtec+na=Advanced timing.
