Default boost problem

my buddy recently got his car back from his tuner and it was running good yesterday. but today, his car sounded like there was a boost limiter or something. it would cut off around 4500rpm. it can still get 10psi, but it just cuts off and sounds like a rev limiter, but with boost. any ideas?

if you're running hondata s200 with the boost option, there is no reason to be using a missing link. you want the ecu to see boost.

the missing link is not on there anymore the tuner took it off. the turbo spools til about 4500 then the car acts like it is missing or lacking fuel. we have ruled out the blow off valve, and waste gate. it is almost like the maps have been lost or something. any troubleshooting that we can do please send it my way. i was going to contact the tuner and ask them on monday.

my assumptions seem to be on track.
you are running 10 psi, and the boost cut is set at 11.2 or higher, and with the stock map it is having a hard time controling the boost cut. a stock map is ok for 10 psi but to accurately use the boost cut feature, you need a map that can read higher.

it is crazy because when i picked it up on friday it ran good and boosted great. but we get it home and all of a sudden it pulls from 4000 to 5000, then it begins to act starved for something. is there any troubleshooting to do or can i bypass something. sorry for all teh questions i have just been waiting on my car for the past year to get done, and now that i just spent a lot of money it should be working right.

thanks again

I dont understand what you are saying about the stock maps, i know the computer is mapped for stock settings, and with the hondata the maps SHOULD be set efficiently for the setup i have right? i say should because i have a few issues with the work ethic of my tuner.

well we did what we could last night but no luck, so yeah i plan on calling them in the morning. i have learned a very expensive lesson about boosting improperly. thanks for looking out.

the stock map......manifold absolute pressure sensor.
if it is the stock map sensor, it is a 1.7 bar if i remember. 11.2 psi is definately the pressure a stock map sensor can see.

so that will let the ecu see up to 11.2 psi only. if you are boosting 10 psi and the boost cut is set at 11.2(for the reason only that the stock map can ONLY see up to 11.2 psi (it can go over but will only run the columns to the 11.2 psi column) and the air has changed and it is a little more dense, you can spike to 11.2 psi, thus hitting boost cut.

there is really NO reason NOT to go with a 3 bar. if you want your boost cut to work properly YOU NEED MORE MAP SENSOR THAN THE BOOST YOU ARE RUNNING.

this happens alot. caps because i am stressing that point.

what is your vtec set at? I have seen something like this happen as the car crosses over to the vtec map and causes wat almost seems like a large missfire or boost cut. was the car street tuned at all?

Hey thanks the map 101, i understand know. but there is a change in performance now. i turned the boost controller down to zero percent so i do not royally screw anything. also because it was not boosting more then 2-3 psi then it began short falling. there is no popping noise or anything sounds the motor acceleration just falls off. now i stay out of boost and drive it as close to redline without boosting and it works fine (minus the high rpm). i can not trust my a/f guage to give me a correct reading. my thoughts are that the tune needs to be reaccomplished with the 3 bar. however the problem still stands as i can not boost more then 3 psi with the issues stated above. i do not want to run lean and crap on my pistons or anything else.

well by running the boost the way you did, you ruled out that. and thats a good thing so you arent chasing your tail.
