Falken Ziex ZE-512 Tires
Have any of you had a problem with balancing your "Falken Ziex ZE-512 Tires" ? I have a small shimmy around 120 to 130 km/hr. The car was aligned when the tires were installed and is bang on straight on the highway. There is what I would consider a fair amount of weight on the rims but they are balanced... any thoughts ?
Let me know.

I'd like to know, too. I am on my second set of 512s. The first set I put about 3,000 miles (before selling the car) on and they always shimmied.
I just got some 215/35/18 512s (for my Scion), and they too shimmy. The wheels/tires were supposed to be balenced from tires.com. I am going to try to get them rebalenced, though. I hope it's not the tire ...

Friend has the 415's and he to has a shimmy (like mine) on his '98 Teg. I am hoping that the tires aren't the issue and are able to be balanced properly. Great tire... sticky in both dry and wet, but we gotta fix that shimmy.
I will let you know, I am going to see the installer tomorrow.

Spoke with my installer earlier today and was told the following:
1. Less expensive tires do not balance as well as high end tires.
2. Placing weights on the outside edge of your rims is the best place to balance the tires... they look like sh_t but it will help.
3. Cold tires shimmy more than hot tires... so drive em hot.
4. and next time... we have to spend more that $100.00 / per corner.
5. apparently less expensive tires have a higher "ROAD FORCE" that can be measured by high end balancing machines (amount of force that is on the sidewall of the tire produced by the road at a certain speed ?)Good tires have 6 - 10 lbs and poor tire have 18 to 24 lbs...
So... hope this helps - it didn't help me but oh well.

I have had good luck with Ziex 512 ever since they came out, getting good service from them in all weather conditions.
The set on my EP3 right now are at about 32,000 miles.
No problems with the balancing.
However, on rotating the tyres a few days ago, I did notice some slight feathering on two of them, and the two that were rotated onto the front seem a little noisy.
The tyres provide so much performance for the money, I guess I just need to decide whether the savings is worth the inconvenience.
