Default D16Y8 being replaced with a D15B issues

Hi guys, I'll be replacing my tired boost fed motor this friday. I'll be swapping the D16Y8 with a fresh D15B. I have an ODB2a engine wiring harness which is then converted to ODB1 at the ECU. My concern is that the D15B motor is ODB1 and I'm wondering what kind of issue I will run into when I wiring it up. Will I have to rewire a ton of sensors?

Thanks

BTW I did do a search

I dont know to much about obd 2 sensors but i know there are sensors you must wire up like knock sensor and stuff. But why replacing with a d 15b since its obd 1. D15B is a better motor but not better enought to deal with emmsision and smogging problems. At least with a obd1 car you can add the USDM sensor and do a couple of other simple things and get bar'ed. But you'll never get that done with a obd2-obd1 conversion. Not worth it man.

Emissons and smog are not an issue in my area. I currentley have no cat on my turbocharged D16Y8.

Thinking about this swap the only problem I see could be with the distributors and the wiring harness plugs being different. anyone know the pins outs of the distributors? Or can I match the colors of the wires?

okie I got the motor and the headgasket and ARP studs are in. The problem I have run into is that the timing belt keeps moving over and sliding off the cam sprocket. What went wrong? :S

In the process of doing the same thing but we went from obd-1 to obd-2. Did you use the belt that came with the motor or did you buy a new one?

I bought a new belt of the canadian VX D15 motor. Belt is lined up and timing right. I'm going to swap tht timing pump tommorrow and hopefully this is the thing that is misalinged since the belt keeps slipping off.

easiest thing to do:
- use your obd2a engine harness
- convert all sensors/accessories on the d15b to obd2, leave off the sensors that obd1 ecu's dont look for (i.e. knock, crank position)
- use an obd1 ecu, probably uberdata or hondata

oops posted before reading other responses. will the d16y8 dizzy not bolt up to the d15? try swapping the innards....

Update*

Well I swaped the water pump, with a spare that I had in the garage. The timing belt is still slowly slipping off. I going to swap the tensioner tonight after work. if this doesnt fix it. I hope the shop that provided me with the block will replace it. if that happens I'll be out of the turbo cometic headgasket and arp headstuds. Wish me luck...this is my 4th motor swap and I never had this many problems, I getting quite frustrated

Since we changed to obd-2 we had to switch out the crank pulley and the bracket that goes around it just so we could add the crank position sensor, add a knock sensor, rewire the dizy and ecu and it should be done on Sunday if we have a chance to work on it. Much easier in my opinion though than switching the car to obd1.

Well guys... Here is the update. I have 2 issues. The oil pan is dented so badly, that I cannot salvage it. Is the D15B oil pan the same as the D16Z6?

Second issue is that the dizzy that was given to me does not match up. I think its of a D16A6 motor, and since it is OBD1 it should have worked but its exactly like my Y8 dizzy physically, minus the wiring differences. Sadly this is holding up the whole setup from finishing as well. Anyone know What dizzys would fit on the D15B?

Thanks!
