D16Y8 SWAP into EG HELP!
well as thread title. I finished putting in my D16Y8 motor in my 92 Civic LX SDN..
I have a problem with the wiring...Heres the list
*1.The D16Y8 has a sensor at the tip of where the intake tubing comes in. My Wiring harness is off my D15B7 and my engine does not have that sensor. Will this be a issue?
*2.Are the D16Y8 Alternator compatible with the my B7 Wiring? I have all the alternator wires in just missing the this one green round sensor that plugs on the side of the alternator... I havent tried to hard to find the angle to put it in but will it fit?
3* I have a small nipple sensor in the back by the oil filter that broke its one wire is that sensor important?
4* I heard i can use my B7 Distributor to stay OBD1 on my D16Y8 The dizzy goes in but only at a angle leaving the dizzy uneven...What is causing this>? Is there anyway to use my OBD2 Dizzy without having to buy a conversion i heard u can dissassemble the b7 dizzy and use the wiring part? Can someone explain?
Please help me im trying to get my car running after a month of sitting

Re: D16Y8 SWAP into EG HELP! (92EG8)
the sensor on the back is the oil pressure sensor and the nipple sensor on the intake arm is the iat sensor. both are needed or else you are gonna throw a cel

not true, you dont need that oil sensor if you dont want it. i opted out of having mine cuz its useless anyways. all it does is let you know when your low on oil and by that time your motor will be blown, so its pretty much a dummy sensor. but i guess it dont hurt to have it. i just didn't use mine cuz my t-adapter for boost wasn't threaded right so i just fed the oil feedline straight in. but w/e

Ok .I got most things solved as far as wiring and Alternator I got it good now i have one more question..
There is a sensor that face the VIN numbers on the engine bay (frame of the car) It has 3 little things inside its a circular Sensor.....Its at the end of the throttle body and i believe my b7 harness doesnt have a fitment for it or a left over sensor so what does that particular sensor do and can i run without it.

Re: (EG_Nhan)
I had a D15B7 in my EG and i swapped the Y8 into it, this is what i did.
Original Drive Shafts are used, Original Mounts are used, D15b7 motor loom used, and a P28 ECU.
Since the Y8 is a OBD2 motor and our car is a OBD1 the best way to convert the Y8 into OBD1 is to just use the B7's loom.
You'll have to change the injectors, Distributor and Alternator. Most of the loom on the B7 plugs straight up to the Y8 motor but there is a sensor (on the passenger side) that plugs into your intake manifold, the Y8 does not have this plug in its intake manifold, so what i did was lengthened the wires and just plugged it into the intake pipe.
hope that helps mate
