Default diff. between 92-95 and 96-00 turbo kits

well, i dont want to piece together a turbo kit, so im buying greddy, and i know that d series turbo kits are all almost universal, so i was wondering why the 92-95 kits were 1400, when 96-00 ex kits were 1850, and can i still use the blue box from 92-95 on my d16y7.....1996, thanks

The blue box from the 92-95 won't work with the 96-00 cars.

The fuel may be pretty close, but the ignition maps are way different.

If you're going to run your own CPU Controller (Uber/Crome/Hondata/AEM) I'd get the 92-95 kit, sell the blue box, get a P28, socket it, and run the Rom Controller of my choice.

The 96-00 kits come with more. For example 320cc (could be off but I know it is 300cc or greater) injectors come with the 96-00 kits. I know there are other little differences. I would either sell teh blue box if you get the 96-00 and go with a chipped ecu OR just buy a 92-95 kit and ECU

Nah. 92-95 ignition is way different than the 96-00 ignition. The car will stutter and run like crap for that year until you switch to a better program and get it tuned.

The answer to that I honestly don't know. Don't cx's have the Y7 and the ex's have the Y8 heads? Both are 1.6Ls, correct?

I remember reading somewhere that the you could use the old blue boxs on newer civics, just that the wiring was different.

I admit to not knowing every thing. I just remember comparing a Y8 uberdata map to a P28 (Z6) map. The timings were way different.

Im running a blue box from a 92+ sohc in my 00 ex for the last 2years with no issues. Im also running a wideband o2 and everything is solid, no issues at all.

I assume its the equivilant of Hondata/Uber/Crome

I think the fuel maps are very close, its the ignition that is differnt. I think the Y7/8 are advanced more than the Z6 engines.

You're probably running more retarded timing than necessary. (But if it works it works. )

Hmm where did they get the Y8 map from. There are only 5 maps or so on uberdata. I thought you opened the GSR map, then imported the P28 map.....then adjusted everything to your liking and save it. I am running the Z6 (P28) map on ym Y5 and the only things I adjusted were the rev limit, vtec settings and it runs good.

A person had a map that went to 10psi, so I was going to use it as a basemap. Then I talked to him and he said it was for his Y7/8 (don't remember which). I then compared his P28 (adjusted timing for his Y) to the stock P28 map and it was very different.

whats all this talk about blue boxes. those are no longer in existance. its all e-manage now. your kit will come with e-manage. way better than blue box...its tunable, datalogging, and a million other things.
