Anyone gsr owners running R cams w/o R valve springs and retainers?
Im just curious because i figured with the more agressive cam you will need a stronger valvetrain components.
im pretty sure yer ok, just as long as you dont go above eight grand. same w/ ctr and skunk2 cams. hth.
ran it no probs on my 1994 GSR
with a year of abuse, still fine.
you need R springs if you plan on revving the motor beyond 8400 rpm....
I am going portflow/ITR setup to run to 9000 rpm this season.

If you bother to change the cams, I definately think you should go ahead and bother to change the valve springs / retainers... better safe then sorry...
I have the CTR cams / Crower Dual Valve Springs / Crower Titainium Retainers and rv to 9K safely on the track... 8600 on the street....

I installed CTR cams in a stock GSR vavletrain and it ran great, all the way up to the factory rev-limiter.

I have a '99 GSR and am running stock internals with CTR cams. I've had them for over a year with no problems. I've run the car hard at the road track and it runs great. Just be sure to check and adjust your timing after you install them. Get the car tuned as well if you can. Good luck!
hello gee3--long time no see...i haven't been on the boards for awhile. so ya finally put in the CTR cams?--did you put in both the intake & exhaust side?? and no upgraded valve springs/retainers...hmmm...what about those skunk gears you had? anyways, good to see some old peeps are still around--btw: do you guys still get together for meets around the bayarea?
thanks!
thanks!
i'm running ITR cams on stock valve train...runs fine...but soon...time for Jun2 intake cam...switching gsr intake valve springs to exhaust...and new portflow springs and retainers for intake side...
