Default Oil dipstick melted... Any suggestions?

my oil dipstick has completely melted and it is unusable now. is there any kind of aftermarket one that would hold up better to the heat from the turbo? i already tried bending the dipstick tube back away from the manifold. its also melting my fan wires. is this **** suppose to be THAT hot?

any suggestions?

dont know, dont have a egt gauge. so youre saying its abnormaly hot?

right now im on th 5psi with the greddy z6 kit. it does get hotter than hell. i heard that the emanage map that comes pretuned with the kit runs on the rich side. would that make it hotter? dont have a wideband yet either..

Running lean will make it run hotter.

Mabe you should look into some of that turbo coating stuff they have to keep heat inside the manifolds/turbos. Not the heatwrap, but the actual coating they put on the inside and outside of turbos to help them disapate/contain heat.

Whatever you do get a stock dipstick dont get an aftermarket. Sometimes not accurate length.

Its normal. I see them melt all the time.
I have the STR unit and it works great. Don’t just buy another stock unit! It will just melt again. You need an all-metal one. Just check the level with the stock stick and then put in the aftermarket one. Most aftermarket units are not the right length but Im sure you could figure it out.

Even with a full race mani, I bent my stocker so it wouldn't melt.

It has cracks and **** in it from getting real hot but it did that at first and now, after months of driving, it hasn't changed.

Still can't pull that ****** out when its hot though!!!

im not just talking about the handle part that melted. the rubber part that seals the hole has melted and its useless now. i dont get it either. the rubber hoses for my mbc are right next to the mani and turbo and they are fine. the dipstick is below the mani...

before i got my lokar dipstick i used to just go to the junkyard and grab a handful of dipsticks. the rubber always melts/cracks.

All else fails stick one of those spark plug boot heat shields on the dipstick.
