Default thinking about getting an LS tranny for my b16 turbo now that im chaning the clutch??

what do you all think? should i get an ls tranny with my b16 turbo t3 60 trim for the longer gears or should i just stick with my b16 tranny? it grinds in 3rd and 4th gear only when shifting hard. is it alot of money to replace the syncros?

the parts for the synchros are pretty spendy i think...not to mention the labor involved. Also, why the ls tranny? LOOOONG gears and hello lag then... if you can do the synchros yourself and dont have MAJOR traction issues with the b16 tranny, do that since the parts arent that expensive...you cant just buy the synchro, it comes as this big set thing. if your going for the ls tranny cause its got longer gears, then do a gsr tranny, its a happy medium

Shorter gears will make your car accelerate faster, so I would stick with a b16 tranny.

a friend of mine works at honda so he does the work for cheap! i hate driving my car on the freeway at 80k and im already at 5500 rpm or so. the b16 tranny is geared bad. and it grinds so i was thinking about just getting a whole new tranny altogether. i want the longer gears for the turbo and i have a phantom grip lsd and stage 3 clutch coming soon. anyone here experienced this? the PG lsd i i odered will not fit the gsr

Longer gears will make your car slower, but if you really can't stand the B16 tranny, get a GSR tranny. The LS tranny is ******* worthless.

if you'd wanna come over to vancouver, i could give you an ls 5th gear. i have some old tranny gears and parts lying around from an old ls tranny. maybe you could even use the parts to rebuild your tranny.

Check out this thread, it tells you how to swap the LS 5th gear onto a JDM B16 tranny. I haven't read the whole how-to, but it sounds like you can still have your B16's acceleration from 1st-4th gear but you'll have the LS 5th gear for cruising.

3/4 sleeve set from gearspeed is $275. that will fix the grinds.

I run an ls on my b16 tranny and when i hit forth gear ... well lets just say if i was behind before i'd be infront then for sure. That was before turbo. With turbo I haven't had a worthy opponent yet.

A LS TRANY WOULD SUCK ON A WEAKER MOTOR BUT IF U GOT THE POWER TO PUL THREW THE GEARS DO IT CUZ UR MOTOR WILL LAST LONGER ,U CAN CRUISE, AND B16 AT 8K RPMS WITHA LS TRANNY IS LIKE 160MPH

U JUS NEED THE POWER TO PULL THREW THE GEARS, ANY MOTOR WOULD BE FAST WITHA SHORT GEARD TRANNY , BUT U TOP OUT FAST . IF U NO WHAT I MEEN

max out what gear at 110? i know it can't be a b16. were u on like 20in slicks or something. anyways..

bottom line, that old **** saying that longer gears are better for boost is bullshit. if u wanna go slower then yes get a ls tranny, but if u actually wanna go faster stick with the b16 or get the gsr tranny.
