Default What happened now?

I was driving back from my friends house and all of the sudden I get no throttle response at all, cruising around 45 mph. It then comes back and sounds like a friggin gun shot. It was the loudest I have ever heard it back fire. I immediately think timing. Pull over and check the distributor. ****! The damn rotor screw came out. I put it back in and now the car just cranks and cranks and cranks. Nothing. Checked for spark on all 4 wires and it is there. I have no idea as to what it can be! It is pouring fuel as I can smell it when I crank it. When I took the dist. off the shaft was hard as **** to turn. I mean, you have to have some serious pressure to turn it. Would a bad bearing cause it not to start up?

yes. the bearing in my distributor failed and my car was dead as hell. some people even jump teeth on the timing belt when the distributor bearing fails.

well doing a rough eyeing of the cam gears the timing belt looks to be lined up perfectly. I guess I will double check that tomorrow. Time to build distributor 4 in this month.

Ok. I checked the cam/crank timing and it is on. There are no visibile tears on the timing belt and the belt is tight on three sides. I pulled the valve cover off bc someone mentioned possibly snapping a cam. That didnt happen. I put a new distributor in today and nothing. What can it be?

Buy a sub assy dizzy from the dealer or from e bay, move the missing parts over from your dizzy. The gear alignment is offset for the dizzy drive gear so it is only possible to put it 180 out if you practicall break it. Your bearing went out and a sub assy should be about 150 cocos.
