Swapping a manul tranny...
I have a 92 hatchback and its an auto...
i dont like autos...
i've seen autos being swapped into a manual and hear that the hardest part of doing this is cutting the hole in the firewall for the clutch pedal. looking for any advice on this. the car is mint and i dont wanna bother looking for a car already with a manual because it already has lots of money invested performance/body/everything. thanks

Parts Necessary for a Civic or Del Sol Auto to Manual Transmission Conversion:
-Manual Transmission
-Clutch/Pressure Plate/Throw Out Bearing (your average clutch kit will do the trick)
-SOHC Flywheel w/bolts
-Civic SOHC Shift Linkage
-Shifter (civic or del sol stock shifter will work fine)
-Shift **** (see comment from above)
-Clutch Fluid Resevoir
-Clutch Master Cylinder (Civic, Integra, or Del Sol)
-Clutch Slave Cylinder (Civic Integra, or Cel Sol
-Clutch Hard Lines (Civic, Del Sol, or Intgra should all work, or custom bent or braided steel lines..)
-Clutch/Brake Pedal Assembly (gas pedal doesn't need to be changed)
-Auto-Manual Conversion Mount (jdmshit.com has it for $110 shipped)
-Manual p28 ECU or Convert an Auto p28(Search for this)
-Manual Throttle Cable (I am not sure if this is necessary.. anyone?)
-Lower Manual Transmission Mount (OEM)

Good Luck.. If you find deals on everything it will be a much better route than buying another car.... if you do the work yourself that is..
No hole has to be cut in the firewall.. there is a place down there for the pedals to go.. just take time and search if you need more information on it.

Since when do you have to cut a hole in the firewall for the clutch pedal? Last I checked our cars have holes already there for the clutch......if not that's pretty stupid. Honda made 2 different body's...auto body and manual body.

no they didn't make two differant bodys, there are two long studs coming through the firewall that normally have the interlock device held there, unplug the interlokc, undo the two nuts, go to the engine bay pull the plate out, then there you go already ready to hang
also don't forget to jump the park switch
and i didn' tuse a auto to manual conversion mount, i drilled mine off and re welded it a few inches up, and still holding to this day

you did this on a 99 Si? or with an older civic? 99-00 Si didnt come in auto. 96-00 civics require no welding for the tranny mount. You just need the manual tranny bracket and it bolts up to the auto mount on the frame.
