Default D series stock sleeves good for???

I never see any topics on this so I thought I might as well bring it up. What are stock sleeves, hp wise and psi wise good for? I will be running pauter rods and and CP pistons on my block and was wondering how much of a beating it could handle. This is on a D16Y8 block. Thanks

-Mike

If it's not daily driven boost them until they blow, not like D series blocks are expensive.

Expensive or not. I dont have the money for blowing up motors or the time to rebuild it.

if set up right numbers around 500 or up to 600 would be alright, but remember, at high power, and high revs, they'll only last for so long

Keep in mind we're talking D-series, not B-series. D's are largely unproven past 300 WHP and I wouldn't go ahead and tell him he'll be fine at 600 WHP.

Thats the thing. I've never really heard anything about the strength of the D series stock sleeves. I shooting for 350+ whp here and I really wanted to do it on stock sleeves.

Even if the sleeves don't crack you're going to be popping HG's at that power level. (with stock sleeves)

I'd rather replace a couple of head gaskets than $1200 in rods and pistons and then another couple hundred into a new block.

The smaller bore also helps with distortion resistence from the moment of inertia. I would imagine 500whp being the threshold for the sleeves.
