98 LX Accord looking to turbo
hey guys i have a stock accord as of now... i have the money to replace my exaust and headers and put a cold air intake on right now.... you might ask why i am replacing my headers if im only going to have to take them off to put the turbo manifold on, well lol its because my headers are cracked and i need to be able to drive my car around untill i get the turbo..... so heres my plan... tell me if you think i could make it better...
1. Replace headers with DC Sport 4-2-1 ceramic headers *temperary replacement* thats why im going with ceramic cus there cheaper and ill be throwing them out soon anyway
2. High flow exaust cat back, i am not sure which cat back to get yet... i know it has to be at least 3 inches so i get better horsepower with the back presure from the turbo... so any sugestions there would be great.
3. Sence i am not buy the actual turbo kit because that would just be a waste of money, i need to find out where i can get all the turbo pipeing, and not have to build it myself like is there a website that i could buy all the pipes that fit my car for a turbo??
4. also i need to know weither or not to get a cold air intake because i read on this forum under force induction system that you dont need a filter or somthing like that you can just connect it from your intercooler i donno that part just confused me so if someone could explain that, it would be greatly apreciated...
thanks for the help

Here's some web sites that handle Turbos', Turbo Kits and support pieces. Look them over and look thru some of the forums for "sticky threads" which cover turbo installations. It will be a good start to your project

i have a custom turbo kit in my 2000 Accord SE...all the tuning and customization are not going to be easy or cheap...and after you spend hella $$$ for the custom turbo work and you still may not get the result that you want it...
At this point...if I am in your position...I would get a exhaust first...then decide you rather want to go N/A or Turbo...because no matter what you chose...you could still keep your exhaust...This is just my two cents...

hmm well... not exactly the answer i was looking for hehe... because i really want to trubo charge my engine... weither it be custom or a kit.... i was more or less looking for the power boost... but umm if you could give me your advise on that... which do you think is cheaper and what not...
oh yeah also for the exhaust i was thinking about doing a custom exaust with like 3" pipeing but i donno if that is good or should i go with smaller.... and i need to find a good muffler that has a deep throaty type sound to it... so if you guys could give me some info on that, it would help a lot thanks...

I would go with 2.5" pipe for the exhaust. I'm assuming you have an f-series engine, in which case go turbo. The f series blocks have iron sleeves from the factory so they handle boost very well. IMO it would be cheaper to piece together a junkyard turbo kit than to get the same numbers on a NA f series block.
Whatever you do, make sure you research it and plan it out first.

most intercoolers mount in front. the pipe routing from the intercooler to the throttlebody is the same as a cold air intake. the turbo will have a filter on it.

I have read on more than one occasion that the ring lands in the F23 aren't very strong and don't handle boost very well.
I have no experience myself..this is only what I have read

dont trust turbos u pik up from junkyards, u dunt know the condition of it...and rebuilding the turbo down the road is goin to end up costing u more then its all really worth
