Default Lost oil pressure at 1/2 track, what to check

I've got a turbo GSR motor in my hatch. This weekend at Byron I made my best pass ever, but then the next pass the car fell like it was down on power about 1/2 track, I thought I blew an IC pipe. As I looked down at the boost gauge I noticed that the oil light was on. It took about 1/2 second for my brain to kick in and shut the car off. I coasted across the finish line and pushed the car back to the pits. No oil under the car, oilpan was still full of oil.

I've got a CTR crank pulley, and I'm 99% sure its responsible for taking out my oil pump and causing my complete loss of oil pressure. I've got a stock pulley to put back on it. The car didn't knock or make any bad sounds....I'm pretty sure I caught it in time but I'm not sure. Car ran for less than 5 seconds with no oil pressure, about 1 second under full throttle. It only needs to make it though 2 more race weekends before it goes down for the winter and gets rebuilt. It gets towed to the track and only driven 1/4 mile at a time. I don't have the time to rebuild the thing before the next race weekend. Anyone have their oil pump blow like this and have everything be fine? Or is this type of failure and automatic must rebuild because your screwed? Thanks guys

every motor is different so dont take what I say as gospel but when this happened to me, my #4 cylinder main bearings were fucked too. Oil pump looked like it was about to fuse itself to the housing.

If oil pump failed, it may have been going for a while. Did you notice any lower oil pressure lately?

Everything was A-Ok till about 1/2 track. Never had a problem with it in the past, it just gave out all at once.

1st pull the oil pan and see whats going on , pull some rod caps and some main caps to is if theres any bearing damage, before u just change the pump and go try to run it again

replace the bearings.. make sure everything is good.. if not it might be eaten up a little bit (i'm sure you wernt under 4k when it happened) and it will rear its ugly head at high rpms in less then a month.

Had this happen to a friend's gsr motor... oil pump broke half way down track also.

Anyways, he rebuilt/replace all his bearings... the bearings that came out didn't look too bad, just a slight color change which I think is normal..

check the bearings and change the pump. Ive seen it happen 3 times and it never hurt anything as long as you shut it down right away. you need to check the bearings while you have the oil pan down...you might be ok

Took it appart last night, Oil pump gear is in 17 pieces. The bottom of the oil pan has a very fine silver glitter in it. No big chunks, nothing you can even feel with your fingers. There isn't much of it, but you can definately notice it. I looked at the bearings and they look fine to me. I don't see any copper/brass colored flecks just very fine silver. I'm sure I didn't do the motor any favors but it doesn't appear to be that bad.

UPDATE:

Took the car to the track this Saturday, it went 11.69 again with the stock crank pulley. Same times it was running with the CTR crank pulley before the oil pump blew out. Motor still appears healthy
