antenna cover (will radio still work?)
Hey guys, I was wondering what you guys knew about the antenna covers. During a rushed primer job I forgot about masking up the antenna and I sprayed right over it. My solution to the problem is going to be just to remove the antenna and put a plug over it like this one - http://store.yahoo.com/twincam....html
My question is, has anyone removed their antenna and how was yoru radio signal? I plan to get XM but that wont be until I get everything else squared away- thats gona be a while.

I removed my antenna and plugged the hole like you're gonna do. You won't get much reception at all, teh reception you get will be staticy, pretty much worthless.
EDIT: Honda sells that block off plate and gasket from a stock CX. I believe it's around $6.

yeah, my radio signal is ****. if you like cd's it is the way to go, if u want the local traffic report and your favorite country station you will be screwed
a drunk neighbor pulled my antenna out, and i got one of those block off plates from jhpusa.com
the radio signal gets extremely lousy, so i ended up getting a brand new one from the dealership.
what car do you have litterbox? i have an eh3 and i'm installing xm radio soon too. where are you planning to mount the xm antenna?

i dont know how much you use your radio, or plan to in the future, but as for myself, i will be shaving the antenna, and installing a hidden antenna in its place. its an option, but not sure of what you plan on doing in the future. good luck.

That way, all wires would not be seen and you wouldn't have any bracketry. That's what I would do.

hey that hidden antenna deal is pretty cool. Looks kind of like an alarm antenna. As for the xm mounting, i haven't really thought about it yet. The car is an eg6 mmm maybe somewhere in the trunk area.(on top of the cargo cover?) I dont know how that would fare up
I shaved my antenna on my EG hatch and run a poorer version of that hidden antenna that 94hatchling posted.
My reception sucks, but I use my Sirius and mp3s so I con't care.
I have my Sirius antenna mounted on the front right corner of my dash (get the new small one and you will forget it's there) It works perfect.
I tried it on top of the cargo cover and it was really direction on the reception. Not a recommended location at all.
