Cost of a Timing Belt Replacement
I just had some work done by my mechanic and he noticed that the timing belt was loose. He estimated 600$ for parts and labor. I have a 90' DA and I was wondering what other people have payed to have theirs replaced. I would do it myself, but I don't want to do something like that wrong, and I'm pretty sure I dont' have all the necessary tools.
So basically what I'm looking for is how much you payed and where you got it done.
And, as a long shot, would anyone be willing to do my timing belt in the milwaukee wisconsin area for like 100$?

Search before posting. There was a thread about 2 weeks ago discussing this.
Dealer= $900 roughly
Private=$300-$600
Yourself,=$200
I paid $300 for all belts and my water pump to be replaced, parts and labor. I was too damn lazy to do it myself. Now that I have done it, I'll never pay for it again.

The going price is usually $250 from what Ive seen + parts from the tuner shops around here. The local ASE certified master Honda tech wanted $600, which is less than the dealership.
I wouldn't pay more than $300.

I've replaced my timing belt, water pump, and other applications that the dealer was offering for around $800+. The process took all day, but if you ask me I would pay little extra and have certified mechanic complete the works. Installing brakes and lowering spring is one thing but something like timing belt I would leave it to a qualified mechanic and sleep without having to worry the next day. My $0.02.

Just do it on your car. I did my DA last year when I broke it. Super easy. It was the first timeing belt I ever replaced and it was a success.
Does your car have A/C or P/S??

PMed you back.

Its really simple to do. The hardest part is if you dont have a compressor. Cause the crank pully is usually stuck on there really good. Also I dont know where the A/c is on the car but shouldnt be that hard. Also when I did it, it took a couple of times lining the cam sprockets up but I eventually got it.
Also dont lose the key for the crankpully.
