Alot of problems can cause an srs light to come on. What trouble code does it have stored?

Some manufacturers incorporate a self-diagnostic program within the SIR control module at start-up. I believe Honda is one of these.
Much like the POST routine your computer does every time you turn it on; the SIR module does the same. The Airbag lamp on my '97 periodically stays on for aprox 3 - 4 seconds and then goes off. It's never set a code.
During normal operation, the light will set, if a deployment event was noted, the impact sensors were tripped or if any of the values that the SIR module expects are not correct

if your car as around 70k or so miles, it just means it is time for inspection. airbag system from honda needs to be inspected like every 7-10 years. i have had the light on in all all three of the hondas i have drove since 97. i never gotten one inspected but that doesn't mean the system won't work. i totaled my 96 sedan when the light was on and the air bags still deployed. i just didn't wanna spent money to get it inspected. it can be annoying but after awhile, but you get juse to it. so around at other honda while driving at night. you will find that you are not the only honda with the light on.

No, If the SRS light is on it means there was a problem detected with the system. Depending what that problem is, the airbags may or may not deploy in an accident.
