Default Code 45 after intake swap to Y8

Hello,

I have a 97 Civic LX (D16Y7)
Before the swap these were my configuration:
MSD Spark Wire
NGK Irridium
AEM CAI

After the swap:
Same as above
Y8 Manifold
Y8 Injectors
Y8 Fuel Rail

I have checked all the torque for all the bolts, vacuum lines as well as the coolant line. So far the car works but the ECU throws the error #45 for fuel to rich/lean.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Any help would be appreciated

i believe you still have to run the CX/DX injectors as they are 180cc while the EXs are 240ccs. That could be the cause for the CEL rich/lean. Try it out and get back to us. 8)

Well... if you are running a P2E (DX) ecu, run the 180cc DX injectors.
If you are running the P2P (EX) ecu, run the 240cc EX injectors.

If you aren't running the P2P, why the heck not? It will control your engine far better... because it is designed for it.

If you don't have one, I've got one for sale.

Can I use the P2P while I am still using a non-VTEC head?

You can see my setup from my first post if you want to know what is going on so far with my car.

You can, however you will likely throw codes for VTEC oil pressure sensor and selenoid

And your issue with code 45 is almost guaranteed to be the injectors. I went through this same thing

How the hell would the p2p control his engine better than the p2e? All he has is the y8 manifold on his y7 motor which just gives him better airflow which his current ecu can adapt to easily. It is not that huge of an upgrade. If he runs the p2p he will throw an iacv code, vtec codes, knock sensor code, and probably a bunch others and will make his motor run rich. His car will run like pure dog ****. Now exactly how does that make it better?

And he also runs into a possible problem with the FTP sensor (fuel tank pressure). All Y8 ECUs look for an FTP input but NOT all Civic's came equipped with the FTP - namely the 96-98 Cx/Dx's. So if you have to stay emmissions compliant, beaware that this may cause issues and there is NO fix for the FTP code. This will cause you to fail OBD2 emmissions inspection.

I will try changing the injector to my y7 tonight. Hopefully the engine works, without being lean...

Thank you all...

I will be updating what is going on...

Why do that when he can use his stock p2e ecu?

one of the posts above states that he could throw numerous codes because there is no way in hell he could use the EX ECU without running like **** and throwing hella codes. then again, he would also not get any advantages to using the DX ECU. i would think that using the LS ECU would give it a lil more kick...........

Putting on a y8 manifold is not a huge upgrade. It is just like any other bolt on which the ecu can adjust itself for by resetting it. Exactly how would the ls ecu give it more kick? It was designed for the dohc ls motor. The only thing it'll do is probably make him run even richer.

Put the y7 injectors in... Seems to be ok in terms of power... We'll see if the code #45 is still appearing... (Crossing my finger...)

Btw when I check the plug, it seems to be rich since its pitch black when the y8 injectors were installed...

Anyone got any suggestion what is the next upgrade...

In the next month i'm going to put on some AGX hope it will improve the ride...

Thanks for the help guys...

Try resetting the ecu. Unplug the negative on the battery for a second or two and put it back on.

it's possible, but not worth the hassle. I didn't know you had an auto.

I have a y7 and just put on a dc 421 header... not worth it. I have an y8 IM on it's way... thta's going to be my next mod, which is why I was watching this thread.

I just upgraded to koni yellows and 15" helium wheels w/ 195/50 fusion zri tires. that made a big difference in handling.

hey tol3 if you wouldn't mind keeping me updated as to if placing the dx injectors back in fixes your problem because I have the same exact problem.

Thanks
