Default Replaced Blownheadgasket, now engine won't run????

Well I got a 94 Civic LX that had a blown headgasket. I took the head to a machine shop to see if it isn't warped. It turns out the head is ok. So I replace the headgasket, timing belt, and water pump since everything is apart. I've got everything back together and torqued the head. Now heres where it gets confusing. The car cranks and turns over, but it won't completely run. 1st) I've found out the cam gear wasn't lined UP. Fixed that. 2nd) I lined the crank pulley to TDC. Fixed that. Still it cranks and turns over, still not completely running. Now I'm confused. Doubled checked everything. I got spark and fuel. What can be wrong or what did I do wrong?

um the only thing i could say is grab ur helms if u have one and start going over everthing to ensure its all hooked up right. set ur crank and cam to tdc pull ur dizzy cap and look to see if the rotor is pointing to the #1 point. There are so many possabilites. hope ur timing wasnt off too bad were u could have bent your valves.

Do you have both of them lined up at the same time?

are you n/a..or turbo since you did not state.

if you blowed a head gasket...how can the head not be warped.how do you not know if you do not have bent valves.how do you know if your even in time.get it in time then do a compression check that will tell the story.

If he wants to know if he has bent valves do a leak down test not a compression test that majority of the time wont tell u shiat but your rings are good.

they are basically the same thing just have different names....if the VALVES ARE BENT...THE COMPRESSION WILL BE VERY LOW...if not zero.and as like you like to say.leak down.if everything is fine meaning valves...put a tea spoon of oil in and see if that raises the compression...if it does then your rings are bad but you could have other problems, like cracked ring lands.

short and simple do the COMPRESSION CHECK AND SEE IF IT STARTS GOING DOWN."leaking down".

Its NA actually, just my girls car. Well I checked and line up the cam gear with the head as stated in the Helms and lined up the crank pulley to TDC before putting the timing belt on. I did this 3 times to make sure! Still the out come is the same. Motor cranks and turns over, but not running. Also I notice when I'm cranking it, a friend of mine can hear it backfire through the intake. I even replace the spark plugs with new ones, they turn black soaked with a little gas after a few cranks. What can that be?

i only said that because my boy did a compression test on his lude came out perfect then did a leak down test and found he had a few bent valves and a leak down test is more specific in regards to finding exactly where the leak is. Also they are not the same in any way exept they test the amount of air in the chambers.
