Blown Headgasket and Changed it, now engine won't start???
Well I got a 94 Civic LX that had a blown headgasket. I took the head to a machine shop to see if it isn't warped. It turns out the head is ok. So I replace the headgasket, timing belt, and water pump since everything is apart. I've got everything back together and torqued the head. Now heres where it gets confusing. The car cranks and turns over, but it won't completely run. 1st) I've found out the cam gear wasn't lined UP. Fixed that. 2nd) I lined the crank pulley to TDC. Fixed that. Still it cranks and turns over, still not completely running. Now I'm confused. Doubled checked everything. I got spark and fuel. What can be wrong or what did I do wrong?

Re: (nitroeg)
make sure that if the crank is at top dead center, piston #1 is up, you can check this by taking out the spark plug and see if piston #1 is visible.... use a flashlight....

or just stick a long screw drive in the hole until it comes all the way up. but your problem sounds like your timing is off like wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy off

Yeah i would check your distributer and make sure its not 180 degrees out. If thats not it i would make sure that your rotor on the distributer cap is pointing to the number one spark plug wire. If thats all good make sure to check the #1 cylinder for compression stroke and at top dead center.

Yeah I did take the distributor out. I'll check on that tomorrow. Hope thats the problem if the distributor is 180 degree off. But I had it marked before taking it off. Oh well I'll still check it.
