need quick help parting out the stock shocks/spring
i am trying to part out the rear shocks from the spring. But the top of the shock is chewed and cant take out top nut. Any tips to part out?

what is chewed????
the threads, or the nut itself????
Have you tried to put a hex tool inside while turning the nut? if you can't hold it you can put vice grips on the hex tool while you loosen the nut..
if you don't need to reuse the shock, leave the spring compressors on and hack saw / sawzall right below the nut..

are you trying to put new shocks? or new springs?
Im guessing springs, when you take the spring out, how would you put it back in if the innard hex socket thing is stripped?
If you can, get new shocks and just install the springs your putting them into..
Last time i had new shocks and needed the top hat, so bascailly I took a dremel and cut the top part of the shock just to get the top hat. I dunnno?

Oh yea and if your tryign to part out the spring, just cut the top part where the nut and the top of the shock are, and knock that bitch out.

this just happened to me the other day, but i actually broke a hex bit off in the hole and couldnt get it out when i took my coilovers off. i used an impact gun and it took it right off and the whole shock didnt spin, should work unless its tight as ****. soak it with penetrating fluid first

Dont compress the shock and take an impact gun and break it loose, then compress the shock and take it off the rest of the way. Remember to compress it and not just take off the nut unless you want a black eye!!

lol yeah forgot to mention that, but i had coilovers on mine and it wasnt compressed at all when i did it and it still came off with the impact

yeah it usually will just come right off, but some are a pain in the rear and take a little more motivation. good luck!!
