Anybody got any tips on jacking up the Front end with a floor jack? I couldn't find any lift points besides behind the wheel wells. My previous Toyota and Ford had a support beam running down the center of the car. While we're at it, how to jack up the rear of the car?

 

There should be 2 two hooks on either side of the frame. There each off to the side, that's where I jack mine up from.

From what ive found out about honda's is that if you dont make/get a custom one they usually bend and/or break. So i hate lifting from there.

If you must, the spot it right on the rad. support on the bottom. Youll see a spot that looks out of place thats it. Also i used to lift from the tranny, it lifts the motor then the car.

KKim, is that pix you referenced the knobby looking spot under the radiator? I saw that point but passed on using it. It doesn't look like much metal for support. I'd damn sure not want to crack my radiator, what an idiot I'd feel like.

take off your bumper and youll see how that spot is the entire front frame rail for your car.......also the back can be jacked on the round tow hook in the middle rear of the car.

ive never had a problem lifting from the front under rad, rear under tow hook, or either side at the seams.

use the 'rad support' (FRAME) to jack the car and not the tranny unless you want to break your mounts supporting your car with your tranny.

 

Behind the front bumper, on the driver side. No need to remove anything. Knee down, tilt your head and you will see it.

 

Yes, thats the front jacking point. check out this thread (towards the middle of the post) with pictures from the helm's service manual, which shows you where to jack from (front, sides and rear). if it's good enough for Honda, that's where I'd jack from... and do.

Thanks everybody for the posts. I've been working on different model cars for over 30 years. That lift point under the radiator is the dinkiest lift point I ever saw. I never would have used it without the advice. My Haynes Civic manual only mentions the lift points behind the wheel wells.

 

I usually hit mine on the side jack points....takes longer, but its how I've always rolled.

when I jack mines up.. I usually put a thick flat peice of wood in between the front jack point and my jack... I do this so incase the front jack point won't get pushed in...

 

Highly unlikely that's gonna happen. You are reducing the friction between metal parts by introducing a wood piece. That to me, is more dangerous.

 

no kidding...i would just stick w/ only the jack right there
