Because to some people, if you put the key in and turn it and it does nothing, that means you need a new thing to put the key in. Seriously, that's as far as some people look when they have a problem. "Whattaya mean I don't have any money? I still have checks! See? Right there!"
Anyway, it's not an everyday CRX problem, but it's more common than you'd think for the ignition switch to go bad. Apparently, it's more common if you have a big-*** keyring with tons of keys on it, because the weight of all that junk puts stress on the switch's contact points. You CAN pull the switch and change out just the electrical part without having to re-key the lock cylinder, or so I'm told. Probably just as easy to pull the switch out and clean it up to make sure it's got good electrical contact.
OOOORRRR... We could all work together on this, and figure out what the REAL problem is, if it's not the switch. We need to know every little tidbit of info you can think of, as far as the car's symptoms go. Will it crank over but not fire up, or will it not even crank over? You say there's spark but no fuel, which would point to a problem in the fuel delivery; i.e., it's not getting to the injectors. Clogged fuel filter, faulty main relay, faulty fuel pump, etc. could do that. Have you gone through and checked and rechecked all the fuses? That's probably the quickest, cheapest, and easiest thing to check first.
Check back with us.
