Metal Shavings in Vtec Solenoid
when i finished bulding my h22 (Je pistons & eagle rods) and started it every thing was running smothly but when i drove it VTEC was not starting even though my vtec test light was on, so i opened the vtec solenoid and saw Metal Shavings in the filter, i cleand it and tested the car the vtec started first but it didnt at the second time, so i opened the solenoid and again there was Metal Shavings. what could be the problem, will oil pump do this if its going to be dammaged?
maybe rod bearings are broken.... had this also a few years ago and my rod bearings was gone... sure everything was build properly because as you said that the engine is build up new?!
did you clean the motor out good when you rebuild it? i would change the oil and see if it goes away. if it doesnt i dont think you got the right bearing in there
i just had that problem at the dyno last thurs. I spun a bearing and I got it fixed. The same materials was still in the oil channels. Once it was clean out vtec was kicking in
You really need to check your bearings immediately. The shaving are going to be from fresh bearings coming apart, not left over garbage from a previous problem.
