Default some question about motors

I got a b16 on my EK and was wondering

1. why does so many people prefer gsr tranny over stock b16 tranny ( I got my tranny swapped for a 98 gsr tranny and it runs hell of alot smoother than my stock b16 plus it cam with LSD )

2. I read on HT that down shifting is bad, why is that?? ( i tend to down shift alot due to traffic, and im still new to driving a stick, is there a proper way for down shifting?? )

3. when replacing motor mounts, is Metal motor mounts nessesary, becuz my friend recommends that i get it, but it cost like 300 bux

Thx alot guys, im sorry if these questions are dumb, but i need to kno, to get it out of my system.

1. Honestly I don't know, if you have too much Hp you won't notice the LSD. edit plus depending on the year of the B16 you could be running a cable transmission

2. It's smarter just to take your car out of gears and easy on the brake. There's no stress on the car anywhere accept the place that's meant to do the braking. At least, that's why I don't down shift anymore. Plus why beat up on my D16 more than I have too

3. Replacing mounts isn't neccessary unless the ones that you're replacing look like ***.

Practice this line for me:

Holy Milk Duds Batman, I should do a search!"

2. when downshifting try hitting the gas before you let off the clutch (rev matching) this causes no harm to the clutch or tranny. when you do it correctly youll know

When slowing down, I get on the brakes and I stay in the same gear until my RPMs have dropped close enough to idle, then just pop it out like butter.

1. I assume you meant, "why do people prefer b16 over gsr tranny?". B16 has shorter gear ratios in-other words quicker acceleration, but lesser top speed.
2. Speed secrets, if you really want to know; check you local bookstore. But seriously use your brakes, pads are a hell of a lot cheaper than a new clutch and flywheel re-surfacing.
3. Metal mounts are usually a "good thing", you don't need new ones unless the bushings are cracked or torn.
I honestly didn't know anyone made/used non-metal motor mounts.

p.s. Be kind to your honda and it will be the most cost effective thing in your life.
