I was wondering what do they change when they rebuild the engine? Thanks For Any Help Givien

 

pistons rings and rods and main and rod bearings

 

^^ all of that unless other parts are trashed. Alos all of the gaskets/seals fluids

 

Not to mention, if done properly, they machine the cylinders and mill the head and block and replace the head studs, water pump and timing belt.

deck resurface and hone block $60

main bearings, rod bearings, thrust washer $200
pan gasket $20
oil pump $200
water pump $75

Figure about a thousand with machine costs.

I'm trying to find out how much a rebuild in SoCal would actually cost. Has anyone actually had one done. Is that price a guestimate or do you actually work at a shop?
