ok so i put my new fly wheel and clutch, and my HONDATA s200 with its p72 ecU..well when i started it up and took it out 4 a test drive i realized i had no Vtec!...it wasnt engading...any1 know what it could be, has it happened to u...i tried my p13 (stock) ecU still NO Vtec! help please
its not the wiring, or oil pressure, i do have a ECT sensor which is making the ecu turn the check engine light on. Engine Coolant Temp...but why would it not work because of that well if any 1 can help me id appreciate it..
RON from R&D said it could be that sensor..but how could of it gone bad?i had Vtec before i installed every thing, now i dont?

if the check engine light is on, VTEC won't work. get it turned off and itll work. the computer goes into limp mode with the CEL on, and won't let it engage..

nope. Not all cels cause vtec to stop working, and very few cels put it in limp mode.
However, you do need ECT for vtec, since it won't work until the car is warm. Fix your ECT prob, and you will probably have vtec again.

its a long shot, but VTEC won't work when your cruise control button is down. I doubt this would be your problem but when i got my 93 VTEC i accedently put the button down and i couldnt figure out why VTEC wasnt working. It took my like a week to realize that it was the cc.

I don't mean to be off topic or annoying, but shouldn't you break in your clutch the first few hundred miles before you shift in the VTEC range? Just trying to save ya a couple hundred bucks in case you didn't know about the clutch break in period (i know i didn't
, but i had someone tell me about it)

Werd, Only some Cels will make VTEC not engage, ECT could be it, also check your VTEC pressure Switch! that was my problem.

well i beleive i triple checked all wiring, oil is full and clean, ecu wiring is good...Vtec was working at the time i parked my car in tha shop..changed out clutch/fly wheel, took off old ecu put new one in p72/s200,OH yea took off the old piggy-back VAFC but connected everything good!i dunno weird though!now no Vtec.iam not all redlining me sh*t jus wanted 2see how it grabs when Vtec engages, but then i noticed I HAD NO VTEC!
that's a hard guess now.. since you mentioned VAFC and also changed a new ecu. i believe changing clutch and flywheel shouldnt trouble with vtec but might have something to do with wiring since that was other part of the job.

you would have much bigger problems than no vtec if the flywheel isn't in right.

vtec wont engage without knowing the proper engine temperature. the requirements for vtec are proper engine temp, moving fast enough, enough oil pressure and the proper rpm. you CAN turn the coolant check off with tunign software though.
but persoanlly i would jsut fix the propblem since no ect menas it will run really rich, which is bad daily driving but to me worse when breaking in.
