Clutch Trouble
Normally as I ease my clutch pedal out engagement occurs near the top (ie when the pedal is many inches from the floor). Currently about 80% of the time engagement occurs about 1/2" from the floor and the clutch bites hard. The other 20% of the time everything works normally.
The clutch pedal also feels a little mushy. I am using a fully stock clutch set-up in my 1993 Integra LS. BTW, these cars have cable tranny's. Not sure if that matters.
The car is parked in the garage until I get this figured out.
Thanks,
Leif

Simple, check slave and master cylinders for leaks. Might need to clean it up first. Is your clutch fluid dirty dirty? Then bleed the bastard, you need a 7mm wrench to losen the bleeder screw (slave) and let most fluid out, then slowly fill. Slowly pump clutch pedal until the old fluid is out, then top resvior off agian. Tighten bleeder screw, pump pedal slowly three times, hold down, losen bleeder screw, wait few seconds, tighten screw, then release pedal, do this until' the clutch pedal is hard to press and full of pressure. I recommend honda dot 3 BF, or ATE typ200 - hard to come by. I'm just over in Bellevue, if your in the area I can help you out, but really it pretty simple. If don't know where the slave/master cylinder are, use manual.
Thanks for the reply and that's good advice. But.... apparently my year teg has a cable clutch. So in that case I have no idea what would cause the symptoms I'm experiencing. Some people on another board have told me check the cable but I'm not really sure what I'm looking for. One guy thought it could be a broken spring on the disk. I have no idea what that would do though. I'd hate to bring it to the dealer and have them rip my car apart to tell me that's the case since I have a brand new ACT clutch on my workbench waiting to be installed in March by a friend.
Thanks,
Leif

Your clutch cable is probably fraying... and grabbing while it's still supposed to be engaged... it's fairly common... Seriously, tho, you probably need to replace the clutch cable.
Do you have any idea how difficult that is? Is it a full on take the tranny out type of a repair? Any idea what a dealer would charge for that? Ouchhhhh!
Thanks for the reply.

No no no no. it's easy.
The clutch cable is what attaches your clutch to your pedal... it's not inside the tranny, it hooks to the clutch pedal under the dash, and to the engagement arm on the outside of the trans.

On my old VW, replacing the clutch cable took no longer than 20 minutes and could be done without jacking the car or removing any wheels. Best $25 I ever spent on the car as clutch feel improved dramatically!

Nice, thanks guys. This helps a lot.
I have a brand new ACT clutch on my workbench and CM 7lb flywheel on the way. In a month a friend is going to install that stuff for me so it's super bad luck to have clutch troubles at this time. I just hope that it is nothing major and doesn't require ripping the whole god damn car apart.
Thanks,
Leif
