Picked up my car today....
And got almost 27 miles out of it before it spun another bearing. Waited hour and a half for tow truck and brought it back to the dealer. Need less to say, I was not very happy... Oh well, we'll see what service deptarment has to say on monday.

What did they do, just throw in new bearings? Did they not bother to check clearances?

I guess... we (talked to the We-Todd-Did FL crew) and it either an out of round connecting rod or a bent crank... but won't know untill the pull it apart, if they even do that. Here is what they said they replaced anybody know what it means?:

That really sucks.
I too have had problem after getting my cars warranty services at Acura.
It really sucks thinking you have the problem fixed and then it happens again.

This totally sucks Craig, Sorry for the problems you are having...
For my knowlegde, how and why do or did the rod bearings go? Is this an isolated issue with just his car or do other cars have this happen often? I'm very curious about this strange occurance.
Please inform me as much as you can about this matter, I'd like to know more.
Good Luck,
A.

), but his is the first one I've ever experience in person that spun a bearing for absolutely no good reason. I was a passenger in the car when it happened, a honda-tech member was in love with the spoon calipers and taping the brakes for the hell of it, put it into 2nd gear, released clutch, car was at ~1500ish rpm, didn't floor it just accelerated and at 2k we heard click click click click.. doh.The usual problem that i've seen (sgT, Lip, etc can comment more on this subject I'm sure) is oil starvation.
BTW Craig: They replaced a few bearings there. Probably didn't check clearances like jason said

Naples Acura Service:
Naples Acura Parts:
PS, the car was brought to Naples Acura in hopes of getting BETTER service than was previously received in the MIA area dealerships, obviously that was a bad move and I apologize for suggesting Naples Acura now. (Service department that is, Mike K is still
)
Is that all that was listed on the invoice? I figured there would be at least some machine work, like polishing the crank and such...
Sorry to hear that, I know how it is to go without your car for months on end, totally sucks, espicially when it is not your fault...

The only way to check if the dealer did it right is to check the stamps on the crank, the rods and bottom of the block to see the letters/ numbers. They determine which color bearing you use.
You need a helms to decipher the code.

Connecting rod bearings?
Personally, I would have replaced ALL of the main bearings since I had the engine torn down and I also would have replaced all of the connecting rod bearings... but that's just me. Sorry to hear your misfortune.

I don't think they tore the engine down. I think they replaced all thouse bearings with the engine still in the car. I'm going to call today and found out what is going on, will keep you all informed.
This sucks, Craig. I'll see what I can do.. but it's probably not much, since we're two different departments.
Also, to those saying Naples Acura has a bad service department, this is completely untrue. You can ask anyone else who came in here what kind of service they got.
The fault goes to the district manager. This is the guy who controls the entire south portion of FL from Tampa to West Palm to Boca and Naples. If a warranty claim is over X amount of dollars, HE is the one who decides what to do.
He suggested new bearings, that's all. I highly recommended changing the shortblock, but I guess they didn't want to do that.
The service department can only do what they are told. By ordering a shortblock, I am sure it would have solved Craig's problem, but we, as a dealership, would be in serious trouble for not obeying what the district guy asked.
So, with that in mind, I can *ALMOST* assure you a new shortblock, Craig. I can't say 100%.. but if they try to do bearings again, they are gonna get hell from me.
Oh, and for the record, your rod bearings were fine. All your main bearings were down to the copper. I guarantee the crank is out of round. I told them....
