at idle I here a whistle ... when he ac kicks in or if the radiator fans kick on bumping the idle up 100-200 rpm the noise goes away.

I dont have an intake ..... all stock D16y8 in a 96 EX coupe thank you for the help in advance.

Pours some water on the belts and the noise doesnt go away or get louder so I know it is not the belts .....

any ideas???

Pop your hood and listen closely, just follow where the noise is coming from. If you still can't figure it out, post up where you heard the noise coming from.

 

I listened closely last night and it sounded like it was coming from the front of the engine so that is why I poured some water on the belts to see if one was squeaking but the noise didnt get louder or go away .......

 

whistle or a squeaking? at that end of the engine its probably either the bearing in the water pump or idler pulley going bad and causing th4e ruckus.

 

does it have an after market intake?
