What gauge wire for alternator & battery to fuse box? 4, 6, 8 gauge?

What gauge wire for alternator & battery to fuse box? 4, 6, 8 gauge?

What should I use? I know 4 is too big, I had to learn the hard way.

from battery to fuse box, i would think its ok to use 12 gauge wire, correct me if im wrong

i ended up going with 8 gauge. its works pretty good.
