Default The Club

Hey everyone,

I wanted to know if The Club would cause any dents or grooves on a leather steering wheel. The thing is like 7 or 8 lbs., so I'm just wondering if anyone on the forum have one and if there are any concerns I should know about.

Thanks

i dont think the club is very effective at preventing auto theft. they can cut the steering wheel and slide it right off...

if you want a better theft deterrent, there was a thread just recently that explained how in reroute your hood cable and installing a fuel pump cutoff switch. hope this helps.

Damn! Now I have to return the club I'm reading the thread and I certainly can't do that on my own. I'll have to see if my mechanic can do that for me.
Thanks for the thread.

On a hot summer day the bar actually sticks to the leather and sometimes will peel a chunk off.. don't worry about the dents they pop back out when the wheel cools down....

I just use the club as an added security measure

you're better off getting an autolock than a steering wheel club, autolock is a lot harder to get off than a steering wheel club is. Autolock has saved a couple of my cars from being stolen.

Peel a chunk off the leather doesn't sound good to me Ok, now I'm not so worried about the dents, but more so with it peeling the leather off.
Hmm, I begining to think this is not a good idea. I just been reading on the forum that everyone recommended the club, so I thought I'd get one. But I don't want it to ruin my JDM wheel.

dude dont worry about it.. just because club aint super effective doesnt mean you shouldnt use it. all anti-theft devices are for ADDED protection, or basically to delay the theives. like me I got club, autolock, alarm, and a whole bunch of other secret ****. it wont stop them, but it will slow them down enough that maybe someone will notice or something

for the club dont put it super tight its mostly for show as to say I have a club. then they look closer and see an autolock too. cuz you dont want people breaking in then they see autolock, then they say **** and leave your locks broken. giotta show em man

The club is a good visual deterrant for amature thieves. Yes, they can easily cut the steering wheel to remove it, but that means that they have to be carrying a saw. If you are worried about steering wheel damage, pad the contact area with washcloths.

you don't have to have a saw.. just a bar can pop the crappy club off.. i agree with getting an autolock (not thief proof totally but 10X better than club)

So, you think I'm better off getting an autolock over the club?

definately!! much harder to break, if even possible unless they take all night. Only other way really to get your car with an Autolock is to tow it...

that or the infamous club buster. But then again....those people that sell it do verify that you are a legitimate business before they even think about selling you one. But then again, the only people I know that have these are either cops, repo man, and...I believe some other profession that I can't remember ( other than thieves ). Seriously though, after seeing the auto lock infomercial, I just used the club in between the shifter and the e-brake handle. I also use the autolock, and an alarm.

if you could, get both. but if you can only afford one, get the autolock.

and dont listen to these people who say you can pop off the club easily, you can just as easily pop off the autolock but not many people know how. the point of the club or autolock is not to lock down your car, but to delay theives, the more delay, the less worth it it is to try and steal the car, so some will just say **** it. trust me in your best interested I saw get both a club(or even a generic club) and a autolock. dont forget an alarm too. all of these work well together but any by itself is garbage

lol.. why do you people keep underestimating thieves.. at any moment of any day your car can be stolen *snaps fingers* just like that. the pointo f anti theft is to reduce the chances only, not eliminate. and i DO know people who can pop off an autolock just as easily as club. so there ya go

So, what are you trying to say?? LOL. I can't really get both, so I'm leaning more towards the autolock. I already have on kickass alarm system!

Yeah, I'm leaning towards the autolock at this point. Thanks.
