Just installed K&N-2427 Drop-in...
Came home today and found that box from SUMMIT RACING that I was waiting for.
I was so excited I went outside in the dark and sub freezing temp. to put it in, luckily it was such an easy install that it didn't even take 10 min.
So off I went to find some open road to test it out. Right off the bat I felt such a difference it felt and sounded so much smoother compared to the stock "paper". It also pulled, the hell of alot more, so I had to come back home before I got into trouble.
The K&N also makes it sound a little deeper too in some points of VTEC engagment which brought a smile to my face, since I took off my AEM and sold my GREDDY EVO.
I think it was a great upgrade, so
to SUMMIT for sending it so fast. Not bad for $70.

I`ve got it too... It`s no special order.
I felt no difference when the box is closed. Only when I open the stock box the screaming is hell..... But that`s gay though I like it sometimes

the elbow on the filter is hard plastic. k&n supplies a little bottle of lube to help get the filter on. i had to remove the little spring clamp from the intake hose to get the filter inserted.

But, isn't that little bottle to lube the filter instead to use it to ease the install?
Anyway, congrats for your new purchase
no! the lube is grease up the plastic elbow to help slide the filter into the stock intake tube; probably helps to make a nice air tight seal too.
to clean/oil the filter you must get a recharger kit from your k&n dealer. it includes 2 spray bottles, 1 contains a cleaning solution, the other has the purple oil.

Hmm....So this filter already has a sleeve built in?
Sweet. Because I'm using a RU3130 I think...and it's just a cone filter that wont' slide into the stock intake piping...I have to run PVC from the filter to the hose.
This sounds like it would be a little bit bigger ID...and that's always good!
Any pics? If not, it's o.k. I get the idea.

I think you felt the difference of the cold air...
you did say it was cold right Ed?
I think I gotta take a few of you guys for a ride next time we meet.

Thanks...yeah I just went to a link to a teg page and saw that.
I'm going to the garage to see if this will work for my current bracket set-up.
This will definately have a larger ID than my PVC.

Hey, man... i'm doing the same thing with an RU2820 filter... but dont get the pvc pipe... take the time to hack up your OEM filter and make it fit the K&N. The results will be better than the 2427 drop in because of the rubber seal of the OEM filter...

i looked at the box with the k&n in it, no way air is going to magically get around the filter just for lack of the rubber seal. the 2427 is perfectly fine, there is no need to spend the time hacking up a stock filter just because of the $30 price difference. $30 spread over the 10yr life of a k&n can be found in your couch.
The cold air was a factor but I had just gotten home from work.
Saw the package, grabbed a screw driver and went outside to put it in.
Finished the install in less than 10min. and took the drive right away.
Comparing from the drive everyday, to and from work, I felt the difference right away. Just by listening to the engine I could tell that the air coming in so much smoother and freely.
And as by the look of it, it seems to fit perfectly in the stock box without any gaps.

I just dug my stock filter out of the closet, and hacked it up. I will be using this now instead of PVC!! It's about time I got rid of that thick walled tubing.
