Default Driving Without Filter On CAI

Well today my dad had to move my car when I was sleeping because they were getting a dumpster to clean out the shed. We'll he said he just went down the road and back but the filter on the CAI wasn't on because a couple nights ago I got my corner lights stolen and they took off the filter. We'll I never got a chance to put it back on yet. Is it possible that it could of sucked up a rock? If it did, could it do a lot of damage to the motor? The cars running fine right now, nothings wrong, I'm just a little curious. Thanks.

Odds are slim that it sucked up a rock but dirt and debris is possible. There's not much you can do about it though, just hope for the best.

If your dad drove it for like 30-45 sec. I wouldn't worry too much but just to be safe if you see anyhting wrong with the car while driving have someone check out it out

i don't know if it would effect the valvetrain?

ive ran my B16 turbo hatch with no filter at 8 PSI, and never noticed any rock, nicks or problems inside the turbine fins, or internal engine parts.. now its possible, but youde have to have a turbo jet to suck up a rock..

dont' sweat it.. but.. get a filter on it.. the guys are right on about debris.. it will add gunk and **** into your combustion chamber, and may cause your valves to not seat correctly.

still.. nothing a good hard, hot run up a hill can't fix though.

Thanks guys for the info. My dad just drove it for less than a minute. I'm gonna put a new air filter on it today.

you better watch it.. those TEG's are chic magnets! your dad could be tappin it on the side.. lol

and.. i honestly think your ok.. just get the filter on for debris that could be in the air.. you can't suck a rock up from the ground.. thats not gunna happen.

just clean the bottom of the CAI out, wipe it down in case any dirt or debri is sitting on the bottom and then put the filter on. You should be fine though

Haha, maybe I should take the spare key back from him . Well the reason I asked about rocks is because when I looked at the old air filter that was on it, it had little pebbles stuck in it.

EDIT: Oh yea I forgot to tell you guys, it's the cai where the filter sits near the bottom of the car, by the corner lights.
