Default Need Help... Oil Pump...Bent valves

First off...thanks for reading this thread...

Tonight my Oil light came on out of nowhere..and the car started idling a little off....then it shut off by itself and would not really start again and hold a decent idle.

Im thinking that it could possibly be my oil pump that suddenly went out on me? and lost pressure? Because the oil light coming on out of nowhere is odd...my motor was not leaking oil and i had just changed the oil a week or so ago..

Thanks again and any advice or help would be great..

Oil light = loss of oil pressure. Put an oil pressure guage in where the oil pressure sending unit is and start the motor. If the guage reads 0psi stop the motor and repair the problem. Otherwise warm the vehicle up to operating temp (fan comes on at least twice) and check the pressure. Should be 10psi at idle minimum and 50psi at 3000 rpm minimum.. That simple.

i had the same problem, oil light came on, car would shut off after driving, would keep a decent idle. took it to the shop and found out i had loss of compresion in one of my cylinders. you should have it checked out.
