Default high comp d16z6 turbo...

i'm building a turbo z6 motor and was wondering if 10.5:1 would be too much...i'll be running the t3/t04b turbo with .63 a/r...the car will be driven alot, but i will have two boost settings...looking to boost maximum of 20psi...j/w if this is too much compression for a turbo d16z6.

for 20 psi? let me guess your still deciding if your gonna run AEM or Hondata right?

Sorry but i think you wouldn't find any normal gasoline that can handle 20psi on a 10:1 CR engine without knock... forget it...

run 9:1 and Racegas... maybe on a B-Series engine but on a D16 ;-) i don't think that this will hold very long...

Hybrid901 ran 26+ PSI on C16 gas with a 10.5:1 motor.

How the hell do you figure a 10:1 motor couldn't run 20 pounds of boost on gas, that's just absurd. That being said, I would run a lower compression ratio like 9:1-9.5:1 tops for a street motor. Only being able to boost 12-13 PSI on pump gas gets old after a while and you want more power.

idiot

u'll be fine

ever heard of neptune? i would recommend that over hondata. Because you can have a pump gas tune and a race gas tune on 1 chip. You could have ultra conservative timing on the street.

i've heard of neptune, but i already have hondata so i'll be using that...i guess i'll run like 9.5:1 or something...thanks for the replies.

You can run 10.5:1 compression and turbo on pump gas just fine - you just wont beable to run as much boost as say a lower compression motor.

There is lots of high compression turbo hondas out there....

whoa there nelly! Thats my old manifold! It worked good, made good power, it liked to bake the engine bay (put out alot of heat), and doing the piping/exhaust was a bitch.

I still made 400hp with that thing though.

Yes, look what you wrote... C16, what is C16?! Race gas... no Pump gas... 20psi on i.e. 94 Octane with 10.5:1 isn't realy a good idea in my eyes... but do what you want... it isn't my motor... even with neptune or what else... you can't break physical laws...

i think 9:1 is a better compromise when you plan on running a lot of boost... thats everything... not that 10:1 is impossible but for reliability...

Unless he's stupid I have the funniest feeling he's talking about low boost for pump gas and 20 psi for race gas.

But, you know, that's reading comprehension for you.

I was questioning why a D series couldnt handle 20psi and a b series could handle it better?

or did i read that wrong.

running high comp and boost isnt a reliablity problem its a tuning problem there is jsut more room for error that is why factory turbo cars come with lower comp they less tuning basically. i would prob jsut run 9:1 as said by mrx it jsut leaves more room for error when tuning.
