Default Main Seal

I am going to replace flywheel and clutch on my 1992 accord with 190k miles and I am wondering if I should also replace main (rear crankshaft) seal while replacing flywheel? Is it a normal practice that we all should try to do? (FYI - the main seal is not leaking and is original.) Thanks.

terrible advice

replace that ******..... otherwise risk doing it soon down the road AFTER you have re-installed the trans.

do as many seals as you can when you have access.

example: when doing timing belt i always replace cam, crank, and balance shaft seals regardless of condition.

I dissagree, very rarely see a leaking rear main. The that do leak are usually still under warranty.

yo Chi buddy i repsect you .. you seem to know ur **** but this time i have to strongly disagree with you,,,,,, i agree ,,very rare do i see them leaks as well but i always replace it while tranny is off as preventive maintanance ehy it could only last a few weeks?? months?? and hell it only takes 5 minutes to do and if it does leak how am i going to explain to customer that he needs to pull the tranny out again when we were just there mmmm mmmmmm i won,t take the risk .
