"What spring do I need for my Tial BOV?" - FINALLY ANSWERED!!
I've heard a hundred different things floating around about which spring to choose. I had emailed Tial a few months back with no luck. Well, I didn't notice this until after I had called them today (I felt dumb) but they have posted a spring selection guide on their website. Here it is.

Measure engine vacuum at idle. ( engine at operating temperature )
Vacuum Reading
Between ----------------------------------------- Use Spring
-22 in/hg and -23 in/hg -------------------------12 psi (-24 in/hg)
-18 in/hg and -21 in/hg -------------------------11 psi (-22 in/hg)
-14 in/hg and -17 in/hg -------------------------9 psi (-18 in/hg)
-10 in/hg and -13 in/hg -------------------------7 psi (-14 in/hg
As my engine is in pieces right now as the turbo kit is being installed, what is your vacuum read at idle in a B18C1? Just need a nice average.

most honda's i've ever seen idle when freshly built around 20-22in. when you are in gear and let off the gas, they will go to 24-25in but normally between 20-22in. I have the 11psi spring on my tial gate and my car still idles around 22in.

Does that mean that you would need to boost 11 psi in order for it to function properly?

No, take a look at the table in the original post to figure out what spring you need to buy.

when i had an 11 pound spring on my tial bov...it gave me compressor surge on light throttle/low boost. then i changed to the 7 pound spring and it works like a charm throughout.

Sorry for that stupid question but how do you determined that you have compressor surge? and whats about BOVs that don't have an changable spring?!?

On a gsr motor, you want the 11psi spring.
If you are getting surge with the 11psi spring, you need a *stronger* vacuum source to open the BOV. Give it its own dedicated line right off the intake manifold. Tial BOV requires lots of vacuum. Geoff@Fullrace recommended this to me, and he was 100% correct.
I tried swapping to the 9psi spring, and yes all "surge" was gone, but it took forever to build boost back between shifts. I hated the way my car felt.
BTW I pull -600mm/HG at idle on stock GSR, which is ~-23.6in/HG.
