anyone know anything about 280zx's?
i'm not on many different forums and out of h-t, this seems like the best forum for responses to my question since you guys here have other cars besides hondas and work on different cars too...
i have someone who wants me to r&r an engine in his '78 280zx. anyone know what size sockets and wrenches i'll need? i have all the honda sizes since i'm a tech for honda. any weird things about this car? as in special tools or stuff for hard to get to bolts? or anything like (i think) the rx-7's that have a single giant nut for the flywheel?
any help would be appreciated. thanks.
don't lock me .rj!

It shouldn't be too hard to find a service manual for those motors online somewhere. I found one for my CRX and for my wife's integra. They list out all of the tools you'll need and even show blown up disassembly diagrams. I'd suggest getting one of those before you tear into the motor. Then again, you said you're a tech, so I'm not sure why I'm telling you this and I'm not sure why you're asking.
Not sure about sizes and such, but I am sure that working on them can be a PITA... Mainly due to rust and such (even down here in TX
). One of my friends has a 280 that he started to rebuild the engine on and eventually gave up and is trying to sell now LoL
Good luck with what you're doing, hopefully your project ends better than his did

Well.. if its a 78 then its a 280Z and not a ZX.
Second, they aren’t too bad to work on. The Fuel Injected ones can be a PITA, but not all that hard. They aren’t cross flow heads so working on the exhaust manifold is quite a bitch. All your tools should work just fine, but like any car it will have its areas that may need a special tool.
If you ever have any questions feel free to PM me.
