Default F22A Gears... will anything transfer over into the H22A tranny?

I'd like to have either the F22A final drive and/or the F22A 5th gear in my H22A tranny.... does anyone know if they will work, and when I say "work", I mean "plug and play" i.e. no machining required.

TIA

John

search, its been covered numberous times, the mainshaft and counter shafts are completely different in size, not only will the gears not slide onto the shafts they won't line up at all.. the final drive between the tranys is exactly the same.. changing it won't do anything

well the h23 and hss counter and main shafts are the same part number

with slight shaving the h23 5th gear would have fit but i ran out of tim an money to complete it ...

all syncros and sleeves will work except for 3rd and 4th as the hub/syncro/sleeve is bigger in the h22
...

but why would you want to do this other then the 5th gear ?

oh and depending on what final drive is in the acord box will depend on what counter and main shafts are in the tranny

i had my tranny rebuilt a month ago, and i have an accord 5th gear in my tranny. the shop accidentally put 3rd, 4th, and 5th accord gears in originally, but i brought it back and they swapped in prelude 3rd and 4th again. the 92-96 prelude si has the same gearing as an accord. so it is possible, i just don't know wjat kind of spacers are needed, if any are needed at all. hope this helps.

as i siad in my threads about the h23 5th ...every gear it self has a diff spacing when comparied to the relative gear in the h22 ..but they all come out to about 2-3mm diff in the end ..so the 5th gear only needs to be machine donw a few mm

the only reason it needs to be machined down is so the bearing on the countershaft can slide up into the housing /snap ring

hmph, I was told my tranny had an H23 5th in it already, but the H22 and H23 5th gears aren't that much different (numerically) so I am still cruising at pretty high RPMs on the highway.

So I guess I'll just have to settle for what I have then... I could get an F22 tranny, but that's too long for my tastes.

I am currently using an H23 tranny and I hate 5th gear... I do a lot of highway driving and I hate being in boost in 5th gear... I still think it is doable...

I'm sure that's great for a turbo application...

but did you have to do any modifications?

According to my info... F22A FD = 4.062 H22A FD = 4.266.... 5% shorter... I wouldnt mind spinning 5% less revs, since I'm pretty sure my G23 VTEC setup is going to have alot more than 5% more torque to compensate.

If you don't like the H22 tranny why not just get a B <-> H series tranny adapater that's out there and slap on a B18C tranny?

Probably because they are super expensive and his hatch is already modified for an H/F series tranny...

so the gears are interchangeable with no mods? or is that just the final gear?

Just the final drives... But Honda318dx said this to me...

(11:17 AM 7/1/2005) Honda318dx: I have swaped FDs, but I'm SURE that some of the gears are interchangeable, not exactly sure how though, might have to mix and match syncros and selectors

He's right...

and H trannies are alot less expensive then B's.

Please elaborate Oaks Racing... there seems to be mixed information on this topic. Some say yes, some say no..

would also like to know part numbers for parts needed to swap the final drive gear, thanks
